One of the largest construction projects in recent years, the High Speed 2 project has been under fire for lack of benefits or evidence to justify the investment.
Aspire Europe ran a benefits management workshop for the programme team back in 2012, and the benefits that were being promoted at the time were very vague. In fact the main justification was avoidance of the effects of doing nothing, i.e. over burdened infrastructure.
Since then, a lot of work has been done on the justification and this article from Rail Technology magazine provides a useful overview of where the benefits will be.
This short vodcast (from our partners at CCL in Brisbane) outlines the key concepts behind the APMG publication Managing Benefits. We hope you find it useful
